Our products and what data they involve
Liana Wallet (open-source application)
By default, Liana Wallet does not collect, transmit, or process any personal data. All information — wallets, keys, descriptors, transactions — is stored locally on your device and never sent to us.
Liana Connect (opt-in feature within Liana Wallet)
Liana Connect is an optional feature you can enable inside Liana Wallet. If you opt in, wallet descriptors and related metadata (transaction metadata, partially signed transactions) are stored on our infrastructure in order to provide the service. This data is processed solely for that purpose and remains your responsibility to back up independently.
Liana Business (paid subscription)
For paying customers we process email, billing data, wallet descriptor data, subscription metadata, and payment records (via Stripe or Bitcoin). This is necessary to provide the service, manage your account, issue invoices, and comply with legal obligations.
Website
Analytics
We use Plausible Analytics for anonymous, cookieless website statistics. No personal data is collected.
Contact and enquiries
When you contact us by email or submit the Liana Business contact form (hosted by Google Forms), we collect your email address and the content of your message, solely to respond to your enquiry. Please refer to Google's privacy policy for how Google Forms handles submitted data.
Legal bases summary
- Contract performance: providing paid subscription services, account management, and support.
- Legal obligation: tax and invoicing requirements (Portuguese Decree-Law 28/2019).
- Legitimate interest: service security, abuse prevention, anonymous analytics.
- Consent: marketing communications and newsletters. You may withdraw consent at any time.
Data retention
- Billing and invoicing data: 10 years, as required by Portuguese law.
- Newsletter / marketing: 24 months from last interaction, or until you withdraw consent.
- Liana Connect data: retained for the duration of the active service, then deleted or anonymised.
Data sharing
We do not sell or rent your personal data. We share data only with the providers necessary to operate our services:
- Stripe — payment processing
- OVHcloud, Clevercloud, Supabase — hosting and infrastructure
- Proton, Gmail — email services
- Google — business contact form (Google Forms)
Where providers are outside the EU/EEA, data transfers are protected by Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent safeguards.
Security
We apply technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit and at rest, controlled access, and data minimisation. No system is completely secure, but we follow industry-standard practices.

Your rights under GDPR
If you are in the EEA, you have the right to:
- Access: request a copy of the data we hold about you.
- Rectification: ask us to correct inaccurate data.
- Erasure: ask us to delete your data where there is no legitimate reason to continue processing it.
- Restriction: ask us to restrict processing in certain circumstances.
- Portability: receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
- Objection: object to processing based on legitimate interests, including marketing.

Supervisory authority
You may lodge a complaint with the CNPD (Comissão Nacional de Proteção de Dados), Portugal's data protection authority, or with the supervisory authority in your country of residence.
